Following the success of her first two singles, ’Skeletons’ and ‘Midwest Emo’, Daire Heffernan releases her debut EP which features the aforementioned singles along with two brand new tracks – the gothic ‘Castles’ and the eponymous synth-led ‘Wasters’. The singer who is based between Dublin and Belfast first began writing songs when her late father taught her to play the guitar at the age of 11. Her influences are broad and can be heard in the diverse range of songs on the EP, which call upon the likes of Wolf Alice, Phoebe Bridgers, Cocteau Twins, and Elliot Smith.

While early in her career, Heffernan has already attracted attention from the likes of HotPress, Nialler9, Dan Hegarty of RTÉ 2FM, and Gemma Bradley from BBC Across The Line who named her “a future headliner”.

The songs on the EP centre on the 19-year-old singers years so far, and her experience of growing up and discovering the world through love and grief. "To me it feels like the soundtrack to my own coming of age story and I'm hoping it can feel like that to anyone listening. Being a teenager and experiencing real love and loss for the first time is something I was really hoping to capture in my music, using indie rock inspired guitar melodies and vulnerable and honest lyricism, putting everything on the table in the hopes of being able to translate my own personal experiences into universal ones".
